The following information was provided by AZ Billiards poster JG-in-KY:
"That tournament (Clyde Childress) was actually held in Richmond, Kentucky In March of 1982. It was at a Honky Tonk club called the Maverick which was owned by Monroe Brock IIRC. Brock was a stakehorse and childhood friend of Clyde's. He later backed Earl Strickland and Buddy Hall among others. Gene Catron was "The Glove". Paul Campbell was a road player from Minnesota (I think). This was the first major tournament I attended. I also remember that Nick Varner went two and out.
Here is a list of some of the other players I wrote down that participated: Gary Spaeth, Joey Spaeth, Jimmy Mataya, David Howard, Ronnie Allen, Howard Vickery, Bobby Johnson (Richmond, Ky), Floyd Skeans, Jimmy Reid, Charlie Jones, Mike Massey, Terry Bell, Keith McCready, Jay Swanson, Hornbeck, Greenwell, Connors, Jimmy Hodges, Sid(?), Moughey, Clarence Frye, F. Sloane, Gary "Bushwacker" Nolan, Geraldine Titcomb, J. Benderman and Terry Clark."
